A new four-lane bridge over Bayou Lafourche in Leeville has been listed in the 2003 update of Louisiana's Statewide Transportation Plan, compiled by the Louisiana Investment in Infrastructure for Economic Prosperity (LIIEP) Commission. Recognizing its importance to the LA 1 energy corridor and the energy support provided by Port Fourchon, the proposed new bridge is listed in the second tier of priority "mega-projects," requiring increased state transportation revenues for construction. A new four-lane LA 1 between Golden Meadow and Port Fourchon is listed in the third tier of priority projects.
